Hydroderm Body Shape Skin Toning Lotion claims to smoothen and tone the skin by increasing its moisture content, thereby reducing the dimply appearance of cellulite. It boasts of its advanced Liposome System, which supposedly diminishes the appearance of wrinkles within 4 weeks. The BodyShape lotion is massaged into the problem area for 30-60 seconds twice a day, preferably morning and evening. Combining this daily regimen with regular exercise is said to produce more dramatic results in the tone and shape of the body.

How Does It Work?

Body Shape utilizes Hydroderm's Liposome System to deliver its marketed results. However, upon review of the product website, we did not find any information as to how the Liposome System works. We did find 3 of the active ingredients of Body Shape listed on the site. Organic Caffeine, Organic Kuikui Nut Oil, and Green Tea extract all seem to work together to reduce the appearance of cellulite by moisturizing the skin and refining its texture. Caffeine, in particular, dehydrates the fat cells near the surface of the skin, reducing the size of individual fat cells and the thickness of the fat layer.

Our Thoughts

There isn't a lot of information available about this product that can give insight as to how it actually works to reduce the appearance of cellulite. The Liposome System that the product supposedly employs sounds like a whole new concept in cellulite technology. However, it is disappointing that the Body Shape manufacturers did not make any attempt to explain its mechanism against cellulite. Aside from a couple of user testimonials, there are also no documented studies or clinical trials that can assert the effectiveness of Body Shape. Caffeine is widely known for its positive effects on the appearance of cellulite, and its inclusion in the product formulation may be the only guarantee that this product, somehow, does have an effect against cellulite.

However, the lack of supporting factual basis for its otherwise revolutionary approach makes it just another cellulite lotion in the growing skin care market.
