Endermologie Cellulite Treatment Review

Endermologie is a non-invasive alternative to surgical treatment of cellulite. It is becoming increasingly popular because of its relatively low cost (in comparison to some other treatments) and its effectiveness in reducing cellulite very quickly.

How Does Endermologie Work?

Endermologie is a deep tissue massage with a motorized device that has two adjustable rollers. It was first developed by French plastic surgeons who used it to treat people with severe burns or scars. The rollers move over the surface of the skin and work in conjunction with suction force. The pressure of the rolling and the suction help stretch the skin and redistribute the fat underneath the surface. This in turn reduces the dimpling of cellulite. Some other benefits of the treatment are better circulation and relief from muscular pain.

Patients have to undergo 14-28 treatment sessions that are 30-45 minutes long. These weekly sessions will probably not see results until after at least 6 of them. You need to drink plenty of water (at least 8 glasses) before each session. Endermologie is only effective for physically fit individuals between the ages of 30 and 45. You also must not be overweight by more than 30 pounds. This criterion eliminates many people who suffer from cellulite, so this treatment is definitely not for everyone.

Drawbacks of the Endermologie Cellulite Treatment

1. You may experience some minor discomfort during the rolling process and some minimal bruising afterwards.
2. Even after regular Endermologie cellulite treatments, one must undergo monthly follow-up sessions because this procedure is not a permanent solution to cellulite. To keep the dimpling from coming back you will have to continue the massage treatments for several months after the weekly treatments are completed.
3. While the FDA has approved Endermologie as an effective solution to reducing cellulite, the results are only guaranteed to last for 6 months to a year.

The Cost of Endermologie

One session of Endermologie costs approximately $90. This may not seem like much, but keep in mind you will have to undergo a number of sessions. The cost will add up quickly. Because Endermologie is a cosmetic procedure, it is not covered by health insurance.

The Bottom Line

Endermologie may seem like a good treatment option for people who don't want to have surgery and hate needles (like the injection cellulite treatments use). However, keep in mind that it is costly and not at all permanent. It would be far better to invest your money in some good anti-cellulite creams and make some major changes to your diet and exercise regimen for lasting results.
